ISO certification

ISO certification shows that your business runs to an international management system standard, such as ISO 9001 for quality. We help you prepare the documents and records the standard asks for, and arrange the audit with a certification body accredited by NABCB or another IAF member. The certification body audits you and issues the certificate.

How it works

  1. 1

    Standard and scope

We agree which standard you need, and which products, services and sites the certificate will cover.

  2. 2

    Gap check

We compare how you work today with what the standard asks for, and list what's missing.

  3. 3

    Documents and records

We draft the policy, objectives, procedures and record formats. You start using them in your daily work.

  4. 4

    Internal audit and review

You run an internal audit and a management review with our guidance, so the system has been tried before the external audit.

  5. 5

    Certification audit

The certification body audits you, usually in two stages. If it finds gaps, we help you close them.

  6. 6

    Certificate

The certification body issues the certificate, valid for three years with a surveillance audit each year.

Choose an accredited certification body

ISO writes the standards but doesn't certify anyone. Certificates are issued by certification bodies, and they carry weight only when the body is accredited: in India by NABCB, or abroad by another member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF).

Tenders and large buyers often check this, and many accredited certificates can be verified on the IAF CertSearch database. We work only with accredited bodies, and we don't arrange certificates without an audit.

What the audit involves

Initial certification is a two-stage audit. Stage 1 reviews your documents and readiness; stage 2 checks that the system works in practice, through records, interviews and a look at the site.

The certificate is valid for three years. The certification body returns for a surveillance audit each year and a recertification audit before the three years end. Your system has to keep running between audits, with internal audits, management reviews and corrective actions recorded.

Which standard

ISO 9001, for quality management, is the one most often asked for. ISO 14001 covers environmental management, ISO 45001 occupational health and safety, ISO/IEC 27001 information security and ISO 22000 food safety.

A business can be certified to more than one, and the systems can share documents. Our fee covers one standard at one site; for more than one, we quote after a short call.

Frequently asked questions

Does ISO issue the certificate?

No. ISO publishes the standards. Certificates come from certification bodies, which should be accredited by NABCB or another IAF member.

How long does ISO certification take?

For a small business with simple processes, often three to six weeks from start to certificate. It depends on how quickly you put the system in place and on the certification body's audit dates.

What does the certification body charge?

It depends on the standard, your headcount, the number of sites and the body. We get the quote before you commit, and you pay the body at actuals.

How long is the certificate valid?

Three years, subject to a surveillance audit each year. If a surveillance audit is missed or failed, the certificate can be suspended.

Can you get me a certificate without an audit?

No. Certificates issued without a proper audit aren't accredited, and tenders and buyers often reject them. We only work with accredited bodies that audit you.

Is ISO certification compulsory?

Not by law, for most businesses. It's usually a condition set by tenders, large buyers or export customers.
