How it works

  1. 1

    Share the final accounts

Send the audited or final accounts, ledgers and last year's return. If the accounts aren't ready, we can help with bookkeeping first.

  2. 2

    Tax computation

We adjust the book profit for disallowances, depreciation and exemptions, and compare the tax rate options open to the entity.

  3. 3

    Reconcile tax paid

We match TDS, TCS and advance tax with the tax credit statement and AIS, and work out any balance tax or refund.

  4. 4

    Review and filing

You review the computation. We file the return, verified with the signatory's DSC registered on the portal.

  5. 5

    Processing and follow-up

We track processing and handle the intimation, refund or demand that follows.

Who must file and when

Every company must file an income tax return each year, even with no income or a loss, and so must every LLP and partnership firm. Companies file on ITR-6, and LLPs and firms on ITR-5; these are the 1961 Act forms used for FY 2025-26. From tax year 2026-27, returns follow the Income-tax Act, 2025.

The due date depends on whether the accounts need an audit and whether transfer pricing applies. Companies always need an audit under the Companies Act, so their due date is later than an individual's. Filing late means interest, a late fee and the loss of the right to carry forward that year's loss.

Tax rates and the choices they involve

Domestic companies can choose a concessional tax rate if they give up certain deductions and incentives. Once chosen, it can't be withdrawn, and it takes the company out of the tax on book profit. Companies on the regular rate may have to compare their normal tax with tax on book profit.

LLPs and firms pay tax at a flat rate. Interest and salary paid to partners are deductible only within the limits in the Act and as allowed by the partnership deed or LLP agreement, and are taxed in the partners' hands. We check the deed before filing.

Frequently asked questions

Is the tax audit included?

No. Where a tax audit applies, it's a separate service, and the audit report must be filed before the return. A company's statutory audit under the Companies Act is done by its appointed auditor and isn't covered by this fee either.

Our company had no business this year. Do we still file?

Yes. A company, LLP or firm must file every year, even with nil income or only expenses. Filing on time also keeps that year's loss available to carry forward.

Can a company's return be verified with an OTP?

No. A company's return must be verified with the digital signature of a director authorised to sign it. LLPs and firms need a DSC when their accounts are audited under the Act; otherwise they may use an electronic verification code.

We have losses from earlier years. Can they be set off?

Business losses can be carried forward for a limited number of years if each loss return was filed on time. For a closely held company, a large change in shareholding can stop old losses being carried forward, with some exceptions. We check this before claiming them.

Do we need to pay advance tax?

Yes, if the tax for the year is above the threshold in the Act. Companies, LLPs and firms pay it in four instalments, and missing them means interest. We can work out the instalments from your quarterly figures.

Do you also file the MCA annual returns?

Yes, as separate services: AOC-4 and MGT-7 for companies, and Form 8 and Form 11 for LLPs. Filing both with us keeps the figures in the two sets of returns consistent.
