Community guidelines
Indtaxes works because people share what they know, carefully. These are the few rules that keep it useful.
1.Be accurate, and cite your source
Name the section, rule, notification, circular or judgment you rely on, and link to it where you can. Say which assessment year or period you mean — the law changes often. If something is your view rather than settled law, say so.
2.Don't copy content
Don’t paste articles, books, paid databases or other sites’ content. Quote a short passage if you need to, then cite and link to the source. Copied posts are removed.
3.No advertising or soliciting clients
Posts, answers and comments are for helping, not selling: no promoting your firm or services, no “DM me” and no sharing your number to win work. Your profile can say who you are and what you do. Members of ICAI and other institutes also have their own rules on advertising and solicitation — follow them here too. Jobs go in Jobs.
4.Be respectful
Disagree with the argument, not the person. No abuse, harassment, personal attacks or discriminatory remarks. Students and first-time business owners are welcome here — there are no silly questions.
5.Keep personal data and client details out
Don’t post PAN, Aadhaar, GSTIN, phone numbers, addresses, client names or anything else that identifies a person or business. Anonymise your question — “a private limited company in Pune” is enough — and redact documents before you upload them.
6.What a verified badge means
The blue tick means we checked the member’s professional membership. It doesn’t mean every answer they give is right, or that their advice is guaranteed. Check the reasoning and the source, whoever wrote it.
7.AI answers can be wrong
Ask AI answers from the notifications, case law and articles on this site and shows its sources, but it can still misread them or miss a recent change. Open the sources before you rely on an answer.
8.Reports and moderation
If something breaks these rules, use Report on the post, answer or comment. Moderators review reports and may edit out personal data, hide or remove content, or suspend accounts that keep breaking the rules. If you think we got it wrong, write to contact@indtaxes.in.
